Trefeglwys is a village andcommunity inPowys,Wales, within thehistoric county ofMontgomeryshire.

The name derives from theWelsh languagetref 'township' andeglwys 'church'. The village sits on theAfon Trannon. Amenities in the village include apublic house, garage,parish church,Nonconformistchapel,primary school,village hall and playground.

The community includes the settlements ofLlawryglyn andStaylittle.

Historical context

Historically, theparish of Trefeglwys includes thetownships ofBodaioch,Maestrefgomer,Esgeirieth andDolgwden. In arural area, the parish of Trefeglwys is about eight miles (13 km) long by three miles (4.8 km) wide.
