Chester Simmons III (born July 24, 1982), better known asTre Simmons, is an American former professionalbasketball player and current coach. He playedcollege basketball forOdessa,Green River CC andWashington before playing professionally in Greece, Spain, Israel, Czech Republic, Russia, Puerto Rico and France. Simmons was namedEuroChallenge Final Four MVP in 2013.
Simmons playedcollege basketball atOdessa College,Green River Community College and theUniversity of Washington. He was named to the 2004–05 season'sAll-Pac-10 First Team.
Simmons began his professional career in 2006 when he joined theGreek League clubPAOK. He then moved to theSpanish League andULEB Cup clubGran Canaria for the2006–07 season, but in the middle of the season moved to Israel and signed for theSuperleague clubHapoel Galil Elyon. Thefollowing season he moved toHapoel Holon with whom he won the league championship.
He joined theEuroleague clubMaccabi Tel Aviv for the 2008–09 season.[1] For the 2009–10 season he signed withHapoel Jerusalem.[2] From 2010 to 2012 he played forČEZ Nymburk in Czech Republic where he won Czech National Championship and the Czech National Cup. In June 2012 he signed withKrasnye Krylya Samara of Russia for the 2012–13 season.[3] In July 2013, he returned to ČEZ Nymburk.[4] On May 29, 2015, he signed withCangrejeros de Santurce of Puerto Rico for the 2015BSN season.[5]
On November 29, 2015, he signed withHapoel Tel Aviv.[6]
On August 26, 2016, he signed with French clubAntibes Sharks.[7]
On December 18, 2017, he returned to Israel for a third stint, signing withHapoel Afula of theLiga Leumit for the rest of the season.[8] One day later, he made his debut in a 94–92 win overMaccabi Hod HaSharon, recording 22 points, four assists and four rebounds.[9]
On November 8, 2018, he announced his retirement from playing professional basketball.[10]
On July 25, 2023, Simmons was hired to joinKelly Graves staff as an assistant coach for theOregon Ducks women's basketball team.[11]
