Toto Ltd. (TOTOトートー株式会社,Tōtō kabushiki gaisha), formerly known asTōyō Tōki (東洋陶器株式会社,lit.'Oriental Pottery Company'), andTōtō Kiki (東陶機器株式会社,lit.'Tōtō Equipment Company'), is a Japanesemultinational toilet manufacturer which is known for manufacturing theWashlet (as well as the Warmlet and similar products).[1] TOTO was founded in 1917. The company is based inKitakyushu,Japan, and owns production facilities in nine countries.[2][3]

Toto acquired the German toilet manufacturer Pagette in 2009 and has been supplying the European market through this company since it first appeared at the 2009 International Sanitary and Heating Fair. The company has had its European headquarters inDüsseldorf since 2012. The pre-wall specialist Tece from Emsdetten manufactures the modules for the toilets.

Washlet

TheWashlet (ウォシュレット,Woshuretto) is atoilet seat that features an integratedbidet. The bidet feature activates at the push of a button on the seat or byremote control; a small wand extends from the back of the rim and begins to jet water towards the backside of the user. Different Washlet models have features such asair fresheners, seat heaters, and dryers.[4]

In 2017 their factory in Thailand reported plans to double production output to nearly double annual production to 870,000 units.[5]

In 2019, Toto opened a new branch of Tilottoma Bangla Group inDhaka,Bangladesh.[6][7]
