Marco Antonio "Toni"Servillo[1] (Italian:[ˈtɔːniserˈvillo]; born 25 January 1959) is an Italian actor and theatrical director.

He has won theEuropean Film Award for Best Actor twice, in 2008 for bothGomorrah andIl Divo and in 2013 forThe Great Beauty, as well as winning theDavid di Donatello for Best Actor four times between 2002 and 2013. In 2020,The New York Times ranked him #7 on its list of the 25 Greatest Actors of the 21st Century.[2]

Servillo was born on 25 January 1959 inAfragola,Campania. He is the brother of musicianPeppe Servillo.

His international breakthrough roles came in 2008 asGiulio Andreotti inIl Divo andRoberto's boss Franco inGomorrah. Both films were nominated in theGolden Palm awards.

Between 2000 and 2007, he also directed several opera productions,[1] includingCimarosa'sIl marito disperato and Beethoven'sFidelio for theTeatro di San Carlo in Naples, and Mussorgsky'sBoris Godunov at theTeatro Nacional de São Carlos in Lisbon, where in 2003 he also staged Richard Strauss'sAriadne auf Naxos.[3]

In 2013, Servillo was selected as best actor at the26th European Film Awards for his appearance inPaolo Sorrentino's filmThe Great Beauty.[4]

In 2018 he portrayedSilvio Berlusconi andEnnio Doris in Sorrentino'sLoro.
