Thomas Paul Fleetwood (born 19 January 1991) is an Englishprofessional golfer who plays on thePGA Tour andEuropean Tour. He has won eight times on the European Tour. In 2025, Fleetwood recorded his first win on the PGA Tour at theTour Championship, which secured the2025 FedEx Cup. He has also won a silver medal for Great Britain, at the2024 Olympic Games.
Fleetwood was born on 19 January 1991 inSouthport,Merseyside, England. He had a distinguished amateur career which included wins in the 2009 Scottish Amateur Stroke Play Championship[2] and the 2010English Amateur,[3] and runner-up finishes in the 2008Amateur Championship, the 2010New South Wales Amateur and the 2010 Spanish Amateur and the 2010European Amateur. Fleetwood represented Great Britain and Ireland in theWalker Cup in 2009. He also reached number 3 inThe R&A'sWorld Amateur Golf Ranking, and number 1 on the Scratch Players World Amateur Rankings.[4]
In July 2010, Fleetwood finished as runner-up toDaniel Gaunt in theEnglish Challenge on Europe's second tierChallenge Tour.[5] Fleetwood won theEnglish Amateur at the beginning of August and turned professional shortly afterwards.
Fleetwood made his professional début at the 2010Czech Open on theEuropean Tour,[6] where he made the cut and finished tied for 67th. In September 2011, he claimed his first Challenge Tour win at theKazakhstan Open, which secured his place on the European Tour for 2012.[7] He was the2011 Challenge Tour Rankings winner at the conclusion of the season.
In August 2013, Fleetwood won his maiden title on theEuropean Tour at theJohnnie Walker Championship at Gleneagles. He won in a three-man sudden death playoff, after a birdie on the first extra hole to see offStephen Gallacher andRicardo González.[8]
On 22 May 2015, Fleetwood scored analbatross on the par-5 4th hole at the Wentworth Club during the second round of theBMW PGA Championship.[9]
In January 2017, Fleetwood won his secondEuropean Tour event, theAbu Dhabi HSBC Golf Championship, by one stroke overDustin Johnson andPablo Larrazábal after a final round 67.[10] In March, Fleetwood was runner-up in theWGC-Mexico Championship, a shot behind Johnson.[11] In April, he lost in a sudden-death playoff at theShenzhen International toBernd Wiesberger, at the first extra hole. Fleetwood had come from eight strokes behind on the final day with a stunning round of 63 to set the clubhouse lead. In the playoff, Fleetwood found the green in two, but Wiesberger from trouble fired an approach to within five feet and holed the birdie putt for the victory.[12] In June, Fleetwood finished fourth in theU.S. Open,[13] while in July, he won theOpen de France, beatingPeter Uihlein by a stroke, after a bogey-free final round 66. He moved from 99th in the World Rankings at the start of the year into the world top-20.[14] In November 2017, Fleetwood won theEuropean Tour season-longRace to Dubai and won $1,250,000 from the bonus pool.[15]
Fleetwood won theAbu Dhabi HSBC Championship by two strokes fromRoss Fisher to begin the 2018 season. He had a final round of 65, with six birdies in the last nine holes.[16]
Fleetwood is the sixth golfer to shoot a 63 inU.S. Open history, tying the championship's single round scoring record. He did this in the fourth round of the2018 U.S. Open on 17 June at theShinnecock Hills Golf Club inSouthampton, New York. He finished one stroke behind the winnerBrooks Koepka.[17]
In the 2018Ryder Cup, Fleetwood paired withFrancesco Molinari. They became the first pairing to win all four of their matches,[18][19] as Europe won 17.5–10.5[20]

In July 2019, Fleetwood finished second in the2019 Open Championship atRoyal Portrush Golf Club in Northern Ireland.[21]
In November 2019, Fleetwood made three eagles in the final round to win theNedbank Golf Challenge in South Africa. Fleetwood won in a playoff overMarcus Kinhult. This event was part of theEuropean Tour'sRolex Series and was co-sanctioned by theSunshine Tour.[22]
In October 2020, Fleetwood birdied the 72nd hole to joinAaron Rai in a playoff at theAberdeen Standard Investments Scottish Open. However, he was defeated when he missed a par putt from short-range on the first extra hole.[23]
In September 2021, Fleetwood played on the European team in the2021 Ryder Cup atWhistling Straits inKohler, Wisconsin. The U.S. team won 19–9, and Fleetwood went 0–1–2, including a tie in his Sunday singles match againstJordan Spieth.[24]
Fleetwood finished in a tie for fifth place at the2022 PGA Championship,[25] and in a share for fourth place at theOpen Championship.[26] In November 2022, Fleetwood won theNedbank Golf Challenge atGary Player Country Club in South Africa. He successfully defended this title, having been last played in 2019. It was also his first victory since then as well.[27]
In June 2023, Fleetwood tied on top of the leaderboard of theRBC Canadian Open after 72 holes withNick Taylor, forcing a playoff. He lost the playoff on the fourth hole after Taylor made a 72-foot eagle putt.[28] One week later, in the2023 U.S. Open atLos Angeles Country Club, Fleetwood made history by becoming the first man ever to shoot multiple final round score of 63 in theU.S. Open history.[29] He finished the tournament in a share for fifth place.[30] At theOpen Championship, he finished in a tie for tenth place.[31] In September 2023, Fleetwood played on the European team in the2023 Ryder Cup atMarco Simone Golf and Country Club inGuidonia,Rome,Italy. He was paired withRory McIlroy for the Friday and Saturday foursomes. Dubbed as "Fleetwood Mac",[32] the pair won both their matches. He lost the Saturday fourballs session playing withNicolai Højgaard. He scored the decisive point in his single match win on Sunday againstRickie Fowler to help the European Team reclaimed the Ryder Cup for the first time since2018.[33] He went 3–1–0 on the event.
In January 2024, Fleetwood won the first edition ofDubai Invitational to open his 2024 season. He shot a final round 67 with a birdie-birdie finish to beat Rory McIlroy andThriston Lawrence by one shot.[34] In April 2024, Fleetwood achieved his career-best finish to date atthe Masters, finishing tied for third withMax Homa andCollin Morikawa. He played the tournament with local caddie, Gray Moore after his caddie, Ian Finnis had to miss the tournament due to illness.[35]

At the2024 Summer Olympics, Fleetwood won a silver medal after finishing the tournament 18 under par, one shot behind gold medalistScottie Scheffler.[36]
In June 2025, Fleetwood held the 54-hole lead at theTravelers Championship on the PGA Tour. After recording 41 top-10 finishes on the PGA Tour, Fleetwood was in a favourable position to claim his first PGA Tour win. However,Keegan Bradley birdied the final hole to overtake Fleetwood after he made bogey on the final hole.[37] Fleetwood also held the lead after the third round of theFedEx St. Jude Championship, but ended up finishing T3rd, his 29th career top-5 finish on the PGA Tour.[38]
On 24 August 2025, Fleetwood won theTour Championship for his first PGA Tour victory in his 164th event along with theFedEx Cup and its $10 million prize.[39] Prior to winning the event, Fleetwood had 30 top-five finishes and was the runner-up half a dozen of those times. After the event, Fleetwood commented "I've been a PGA Tour winner for a long time. It's just always been in my mind [until now]"[40]
At the2025 Ryder Cup, Fleetwood was a member of the European team that triumphed 15–13 over the United States atBethpage Black. He won both hisfoursomes matches with playing partner Rory McIlroy as well as claiming wins in both hisfour-ball matches alongsideJustin Rose. He was defeated byJustin Thomas in the singles. At the end of the event, Fleetwood was given the Nicklaus-Jacklin Award.[41][42]
In October 2025, Fleetwood shot a 7-under 65 in the final round to win theDP World India Championship. He won by two strokes over 54-hole leaderKeita Nakajima.[43] The following month, he reached a playoff at theAbu Dhabi Golf Championship, but was defeated on the first extra hole byAaron Rai who made birdie.[44] Later in November, Fleetwood finished in a share for third place at theDP World Tour Championship.[45]
In 2017, Fleetwood married Clare Craig, who also acts as his manager and is 23 years his senior. They have one son together named Frankie born in 2017.[46] Fleetwood also has two stepsons from Clare's first marriage, Oscar and Murray. In April 2024, Oscar made his first appearance on theChallenge Tour at theUAE Challenge, where Fleetwood acted as his caddie for the week.[47]
Fleetwood is a fan ofEverton F.C.[48]
In March 2025, Fleetwood received anhonorary fellowship fromLiverpool John Moores University.[49]
