Thomas Joseph Murphy (November 21, 1935 – June 18, 2025) was an Americanmiddle-distance runner, who represented his native country at the1960 Summer Olympics inRome, Italy. He is best known for winning the gold medal in themen's 800 metres event at the1959 Pan American Games inChicago.

Murphy graduated fromManhattan College in 1958.[1] He died on June 18, 2025, at the age of 89.[2]
