Tobias Lindholm is a Danishscreenwriter andfilm director. He has written for many films and TV series, becoming known as a writer on the political drama seriesBorgen. His 2015 filmA War was nominated for anAcademy Award for Best Foreign Language Film. He is also known for directing the filmsR (2010),A Hijacking (2012), andThe Good Nurse (2022).

Early life and education

Tobias Lindholm was born inNæstved, Denmark.[citation needed]

He graduated from theNational Film School of Denmark inCopenhagen in 2007.[citation needed]

Career

Lindholm first received attention for his work as a television writer on the popular Danishpolitical drama TV seriesBorgen (2010–2022), credited on all 20 episodes of the series' first two seasons, either as an episode writer or storyline contributor.[citation needed] In 2011, Lindholm was awarded a specialBodil Award for having two feature films,Submarino (as co-writer)[citation needed] andR (as director and writer) in competition for that year'sBest Danish Film, which the latter movie also won.[1]

His hostage dramaA Hijacking premiered at the 2012Venice Film Festival in the Orizzonti section.[2]

Lindholm has been a frequent collaborator with film directorThomas Vinterberg, with whom he has written the screenplays for feature filmsSubmarino (2010),The Hunt (2012), andAnother Round (2020).[citation needed]

Lindholm directed the 2015 dramaA War (Danish:Krigen) about aDanish military company inAfghanistan that is captured by theTaliban, and the commander is accused ofwar crimes.[3] The film was nominated for theBest Foreign Language Film at the88th Academy Awards.[4]

In November 2021, Lindholm struck afirst-look deal with global media companySister, to develop and produce scripted series. The first project, calledThe Best of Us, is a dramatisation of9/11 first responders, withJeremy Strong set to star in it.[5]

Personal life

Lindholm married film producerCaroline Blanco, with whom he has three sons. As of 2015 they were living inCopenhagen.[6]
