Tiruvottiyur railway station is one of the railway station of theChennai Central–Gummidipoondi section of theChennai Suburban Railway Network. It serves the neighbourhood ofTiruvottiyur, a suburb ofChennai, and is located 9 km north ofChennai Central railway station. It has an elevation of 7 m abovesea level.




The lines at the station were electrified on 13 April 1979, with the electrification of the Chennai Central–Gummidipoondi section.[1]
Daily regularEMU services are available up toGummidipoondi,Sullurpeta,Ennore in the north andChennai central in the south. In addition, rare daily rails are available up toChennai beach,Tiruvallur,Velachery,Tambaram andChengalpattu.
Approximately 25,000 people use the station every day.[2]
