14°58′34″S147°37′30″W / 14.976°S 147.625°W /-14.976; -147.625Tiputa is a village on theFrench Polynesian atoll ofRangiroa, in theTuamotu archipelago.
It is located on the Northern edge of the atoll, approximately 7 km East-southeast of the village ofAvatoru. The two villages are separated by theTiputa Pass, a world-renowned spot forunderwater diving.[1] It is necessary to travel to Avatoru by means of awater taxi to make it toRangiroa Airport.
The population of Tiputa is around 900 inhabitants, making it the most populous village of the atoll of Rangiroa. The main economical activity in Tiputa is tourism. There are hotels and other touristic installations.
