Tipo-Tipo, officially theMunicipality of Tipo-Tipo (Tausūg:Lupa' Tipo-Tipo;Chavacano:Municipalidad de Tipo-Tipo;Filipino:Bayan ng Tipo-Tipo), is amunicipality in theprovince ofBasilan,Philippines. According to the 2020 census, it has a population of 25,531 people.[5]

In 2006, the municipalities ofAl-Barka andUngkaya Pukan were created from Tipo-Tipo,[6][7] reducing its number ofbarangays from 39 to 11.

Tipo-Tipo was the site of the2007 Basilan beheading incident where Abu Sayyaf bandits beheaded 14 Philippine Marines, as well as two subsequent battles inApril 2014 andApril 2016.

In the 2020 census, Tipo-Tipo had a population of 25,531.[16] The population density was 510 inhabitants per square kilometre (1,300/sq mi).
