Tim Pütz (German pronunciation:[ˈtɪmˈpʏts]; born 19 November 1987) is a German professionaltennis player who specializes in doubles.He reached his career-high doubles ranking of world No. 6 on 17 February 2025, and has won eleven doubles titles on theATP Tour, including the2024 ATP Finals withKevin Krawietz, becoming the first all-German pair to win the title. Pütz won the2023 French Open in mixed doubles alongsideMiyu Kato and was a finalist at the2024 US Open with Krawietz.
He has also reached the semifinals at the2023 Wimbledon. In singles, he has a career-high ranking of world No. 163, achieved in February 2015, reaching the second round at the2014 Wimbledon Championships.
Pütz has represented Germany in theDavis Cup since 2017, most notably reaching the semifinals in2021. He also competed at the Olympic Games with Kevin Krawietz in2021, and in2024 where they reached the quarterfinals.
Pütz made his ATP Tour main-draw singles debut at the2014 Wimbledon Championships. As a qualifier, he defeatedTeymuraz Gabashvili in the first round. He lost toFabio Fognini in four sets in the next round.
Pütz played in the2017 Davis Cup for the first time. He helped theGerman team to win over Portugal in theWorld Group play-offs by winning the doubles rubber withJan-Lennard Struff.
In the first round of the2018 Davis Cup, Pütz and Struff beat the Australian duoJohn Peers andMatthew Ebden to set Germany on its way to victory.[2] Although Pütz and Struff won again in the Davis Cup quarterfinals against the SpaniardsFeliciano López andMarc López, their team lost the tie with 2–3.
In June 2018, Pütz won his first doubles title on the ATP Tour at theStuttgart Open withPhilipp Petzschner as a wildcard entry.[3]
In May 2019, Pütz won his second doubles title withFrederik Nielsen at theBavarian International Tennis Championships in Munich.[4]
Pütz reached his first Grand Slam quarterfinal at the2020 French Open with Nielsen, where they lost to world No. 1 and top-seeded Columbian pair of Farah/Cabal.
Pütz won his third doubles title at theEstoril Open withHugo Nys.[5]
He reached his first semifinals in doubles at a Masters 1000 at theMadrid Open with compatriotAlexander Zverev,[6] but they withdrew from the match. Later in May, Pütz won his fourth doubles title at theLyon Open, again with Nys.[7]
The Pütz/Nys duo reached the quarterfinals of theFrench Open, where they were defeated by Kazakh duo Bublik/Golubev.
In July 2021, Pütz made his debut at theTokyo Olympics withKevin Krawietz.[8]
Pütz won his fifth title and his first at anATP 500 tournament at theHamburg European Open withMichael Venus.[9]He and Venus got to the semifinals of theIndian Wells Masters.[10] He won his firstATP Masters 1000 title at theParis Masters, again with Venus.[11] As a result, he reached a new doubles career-high of No. 17 in November 2021.
Seeded sixth, Pütz and Venus reached the quarterfinals of theAustralian Open, where they were defeated by eventual championsThanasi Kokkinakis andNick Kyrgios.[12]
On 21 March, he broke into the top 10 for the first time, ranked at world No. 9.After a final showing at theCincinnati Masters with Venus,[13] he reached world No. 7 in the doubles rankings on 29 August 2022.

Pütz won his first Grand Slam tournament at theFrench Open mixed doubles championship withMiyu Kato.[14] At the same tournament, he reached the quarterfinals for the third time in doubles with new partnerKevin Krawietz with a win overRomain Arneodo andSam Weissborn, getting revenge for their loss to the same duo at the2023 Monte-Carlo Masters six weeks earlier.[15] They lost to eventual championsIvan Dodig andAustin Krajicek in three sets.[16]
He reached the semifinals of a Major for the first time at theWimbledon Championships with Krawietz. They won their first title together at theHamburg European Open.[17]
At theAustralian Open, he reached the quarterfinals for the second time at this tournament with Krawietz[18][19] where they lost to eventual finalistsSimone Bolelli andAndrea Vavassori.[20]The pair also reached the semifinals at theIndian Wells Open where they lost to unseeded pair and eventual champions Wesley Koolhof/Nikola Mektić[21] and at theMiami Open where they lost to second seeds Austin Krajicek/Ivan Dodig.[22]
Next they reached the quarterfinals at theMonte-Carlo Masters where they lost again to the eventual champions and also unseeded pair ofJoran Vliegen andSander Gillé.[23] In July they also won the title on home soil, at the ATP 500 inHamburg where they were the defending champions.[24][25]
Pütz partnered again Krawietz to represent Germany at the2024 Paris Olympics where they reached the quarterfinals.[26]
He reached his first Grand Slam final with Krawietz at theUS Open defeating fifth seedsAndrea Vavassori andSimone Bolelli, 16th seedsMáximo González andAndrés Molteni and fourth seedsMarcelo Arévalo andMate Pavić in the semifinals.[27]
On his debut in the main competition at theATP Finals with Krawietz, having been alternate twice before, he reached the semifinals defeatingSimone Bolelli andAndrea Vavassori.[28] They became the first all-German duo to reach the semifinals[29] and then the final in ATP Finals history. They also became the first No. 8 seeds to reach the doubles final,[30] which they won in straight sets against Marcelo Arévalo and Mate Pavić.[31]
Pütz and Krawietz reached the final at theAdelaide International, losing toSimone Bolelli andAndrea Vavassori in a deciding champions tiebreak.[32] He won his secondATP Masters 1000 title at theShanghai Masters, again with Krawietz.[33]
