Tim Mudde (born 23 February 1965), also known asBrigadier M orSassem Tim, is a former Dutch activist, politician, and musician who was active within theradical right movement in the Netherlands between the 1980s and the early 2010s. He was party secretary of the far-rightCentre Party '86,[1] an offshoot of theCentre Party, and like many other senior members of this party became active forVoorpost,[2][3] and later founded the Nationale Beweging, the nationalistmail order company Fenris, and the nationalistinternet radio station Radio Rapaille where he presented several shows.[4]
Mudde played in theRock Against Communism (RAC) bandBrigade M,[5] as well as theFeyenoord themedOi! band Foienoord.[6] He is the older brother of the political scientistCas Mudde, who studies radical-right movements. In 1996, Mudde was one of the two founders of Brigade M, which initially was called Brigade Mussert referring to the personal bodyguards ofNazi sympatizerAnton Mussert.[7]
Mudde was a member of other RAC/Nationalistic bands:Dietse Patriotten,Die Fünfte Kolonne,Distrikt 217,H6,O.D.M.,Oi-Die-Poes andSassem Bootbois (later calledSassem Boot Boys).[8] Mudde also had been involved with the RAC record companiesSassem Produkties[9] andMuziek met wortels (Music with Roots). On 22 October 2005, he gave a speech for theNational Alliance party aboutAntifaschistische Aktion. Mudde considered himself to be anationalist rather than aneo-Nazi. In the 1980s and 1990s, he was convicted several times for offenses dealing withhate speech.[10][11] In later years, Mudde has moved on from politics and founded arugby club.[12] This club existed until mid 2022.[13]
