Thomas John Volgy (born March 19, 1946)[1] is a professor ofpolitical science at theUniversity of Arizona, where he has been on faculty since 1971.[2] He is also the Executive Director (since 1995) of theInternational Studies Association.[3]

He is a former member of theTucson, Arizona City Council (1977–1987) and was Mayor of Tucson 1987-1991. In theUnited States House of Representatives elections, 1998 he was the Democratic Party's candidate inArizona's 5th congressional district.

He is a graduate ofOakland University (BA) and theUniversity of Minnesota (MA and PhD).
