Thomas Pritzker (born June 6, 1950) is an Americanbillionaire heir and businessman. A member of thePritzker family, he is the chairman and chief executive officer (CEO) of the Pritzker Organization (TPO), which manages the various Pritzker family business assets. Pritzker is also the executive chairman of theHyatt Hotels Corporation.[1]
Thomas Pritzker was born on June 6, 1950 to thePritzker family, son ofJay Pritzker (1922–99) and his wife, Marian Friend. Thomas' great grandparents wereUkrainian Jewish immigrants, Annie P. (née Cohn) and Nicholas J. Pritzker.[2][3] His maternal grandfather wasPrague born juristHugo Friend.
He holds aJ.D. and aM.B.A. from theUniversity of Chicago,[4] and aB.A. fromClaremont McKenna College.
Pritzker was appointed President of Hyatt Corporation in 1980 and became its Chairman and CEO in 1999. He served as CEO until December 2006 and remains the executive chairman of the company.[5]
He also served as a director ofRoyal Caribbean Cruises until 2020 and ofTransUnion until 2010.[5]
He is founder (2011) and chairman ofNorth America Western Asia Holdings LLC (NAWAH), an investment and advisory firm seeking to invest in Iraqi companies while advising clients looking to do business in the region.[6]
He is the past chair of theArt Institute of Chicago and theCenter for Strategic and International Studies. He is also a member of theCouncil on Foreign Relations and theAspen Strategy Group. He organized the Pritzker Neuropsychiatric Disorders Research Consortium.[7] Along with his wife, Tom supportsRare, an international conservation organization.
He is married to Margot Marshall.[8] They have three sons.[9][10]
Pritzker was named in a deposition filed under oath byVirginia Giuffre related to her being sexually trafficked through theJeffrey Epstein network. She testified in the deposition that she once was sexually abused by Pritzker.[11]
