Thomas Hürlimann (born 21 December 1950) is aSwiss playwright and novelist.

Hürlimann was born inZug, Switzerland.^[1] He is a son of the former government and federal councilor (Minister)Hans Hürlimann.^[2] He studied philosophy inZürich andBerlin, worked as an assistant director and dramaturge at the BerlinSchiller Theater and was a guest lecturer at theGerman Institute for Literature in Leipzig.^[1] His 1989 noveldas Gartenhaus was published asThe Couple in the United States in 1991.^[3] His works have been translated into 21 languages.^[4]
