Thio (French pronunciation:[tjo]) is acommune in theSouth Province ofNew Caledonia, an overseas territory ofFrance in thePacific Ocean.
A novelAerial tramway built byAdolf Bleichert & Co. company in 1906 existed here at the start of the 20th century to facilitate loading ore ships offshore.
During the2024 New Caledonia unrest, an alleged gunman was shot dead byFrench police in the village.[3]
