This name was also thought to have given rise toSibyl byVarro, a Roman man of letters.[1] The historianJerome similarly explainedTheobule as theAttic form of theDoricΣιοβόλλα (Siobolla), a variant ofSibulla (Sibyl in Greek)[6]
