The Leghorn Hat (German:Der Florentiner Hut) is a 1939 Germanperiodcomedy film directed byWolfgang Liebeneiner and starringHeinz Rühmann,Herti Kirchner andChristl Mardayn.[1] It is based on the 1851 playThe Italian Straw Hat written byEugène Labiche, which has been adapted for the screen on several occasions.[2]
The film's sets were designed by theart directorsHans Sohnle andWilhelm Vorwerg. It was shot at theBabelsberg Studios inBerlin. It premiered inMagdeburg on 4 April before opening at theGloria-Palast in the capital on 18 April.
