The Last One for the Road (Italian:Le città di pianura,lit. 'The cities of the plain') is a 2025dramaroad movie co-written and directed by Francesco Sossai. It starsFilippo Scotti,Sergio Romano [it],Pierpaolo Capovilla [it],Roberto Citran, andAndrea Pennacchi. The film had its world premiere at theUn Certain Regard section of the78th Cannes Film Festival on 21 May 2025. It received a theatrical release in Italy on 25 September 2025.
InVeneto, two middle-aged men befriend a shy architecture student and transform his outlook on life.[1][2]
Principal photography took place in late 2024. The film was shot on location inVeneto, specificallySedico,Feltre,Padua,Chioggia, and theBrion Memorial inAltivole.[3][4]
Lucky Number owns the sales rights to the film.[5] The film had its world premiere in theUn Certain Regard section of the78th Cannes Film Festival on 21 May 2025.[6][7][8] It was also screened at theToronto International Film Festival, theNew York Film Festival, theFestival du nouveau cinéma, and theVancouver International Film Festival.[9][10][11] The film received a theatrical release in Italy on 25 September 2025.[12]
