The Gambia competed at the2022 Commonwealth Games inBirmingham,England between 28 July and 8 August 2022.[1] It was The Gambia's twelfth appearance at the Games.
Modou Gamo andWurrie Njadoe were the country'sopening ceremony flagbearers.[2]
On 2 August, judokaFaye Njie won the country's firstCommonwealth Games silver medal and second Commonwealth medal ever (the first being a bronze medal at the1970 Commonwealth Games).[3]

On 28 March 2022, The Gambia guaranteed qualification for the men's tournament by winning the African Qualifier inAccra,Ghana.[4] TheFIVB later confirmed they ultimately qualified directly via theWorld Rankings (for performances between 16 April 2018 and 31 March 2022).[5]
