A life-sizebronze sculpture ofJimi Hendrix by Daryl Smith, calledThe Electric Lady Studio Guitar, is installed at the intersection ofBroadway andPine Street in theCapitol Hill neighborhood ofSeattle, Washington, in the United States.
The statue depicts Hendrix playing a Stratocaster. Visit Seattle, a private nonprofit marketing organization,[2] includes the sculpture in its list of African American Heritage Sites.[3]
The sculpture is part of a collection of statues on Capitol Hill includingChuck Berry,Buddy Holly, andElvis Presley. The guitars featured with the statues were part of an "alternative corporate art collection" formed byMichael J. Malone, founder ofAEI Music Corporation (now known as DMX) and Hunters Capital. The statues are currently all owned and maintained by Hunters Capital.[4]
The work was vandalized withgraffiti on September 18, 2013, the 43rd anniversary ofHendrix's death.[5]
