The Congress of Paris (French:Le Congrès de Paris) is an 1856history painting by the FrenchartistÉdouard Dubufe.[1] It depicts the internationaldiplomats who assembled for theCongress of Paris that ended theCrimean War. It was exhibited at theSalon of 1857.[2] Today it is on display in thePalace of Versailles.[3] Anengraving of the painting is in theRoyal Collection.[4]
Amongst those depicted in the painting are theCount of Cavour,Lord Cowley,Alexey Fyodorovich Orlov,Mehmed Emin Âli Pasha,Count von Buol,Earl of Clarendon.Napoleon III is depicted by abust on the left.Napoleon I, the uncle of the current French emperor, is portrayed in a painting on the right of the scene.
