Springtime in New York: The Bootleg Series, Vol. 16 (1980-1985) is acompilation album by American singer-songwriterBob Dylan. It is the 14th installment in the ongoingBootleg Series and was released on September 17, 2021, throughLegacy Records.[1] Like previous installments in the series, the album comes in a two-CD standard edition and a five-disc deluxe edition.[2][3] In addition to the CD releases, a 2-LP and 4-LP were released, with the latter coming fromThird Man Records.[4]
Springtime in New York contains rehearsals and outtakes from the sessions forShot of Love (1981),Infidels (1983), andEmpire Burlesque (1985). The set received positive reviews from critics, with praise being directed at the performances and stripped-back arrangements. The album reached number 40 in the US and number 6 in the UK.
All tracks are written byBob Dylan, except "New Danville Girl" written by Dylan andSam Shepard.
