The Beauties are a Canadianalternative country band fromToronto.

Career

They formed at theDakota Tavern in 2006. The band members are Shawn Creamer,[1] Derek Downham, Paul Pfisterer, Jud Ruhl and Darin McConnell.[2]

The Beauties have opened forSkydiggers,[3]Broken Social Scene,[4]Justin Rutledge andJason Collett,[5] and have backed up songwriters includingRon Sexsmith,Jim Cuddy andSerena Ryder.

They signed toSix Shooter Records in 2009. That same year,Now Magazine named the Beauties as the best roots/country band in Toronto.[6]

They recorded an EP withSerena Ryder,[7] but so far only one song from those sessions has been released; a cover of "The Funeral" byBand of Horses.[8]

On June 1, 2010, they released their first full length, self-titled album on Six Shooter Records.[9]
