Thanikachalam Sadagopan is an Indian cardiologist, medical academic,[1] and former Vice-Chancellor at theSri Ramachandra University.[2] He is the chairman and director of the Cardiac Care Centre at Sri Ramachandra University and an adjunct professor at the Biomedical Engineering Group of the Department of Applied Mechanics at theIndian Institute of Technology, Chennai. He is known for research on preventive cardiology and has published several articles on the subject.[3][4] He has been involved in several multinational multicentric drug trials including thePURSE-HIS Epidemiological Study of theTufts University School of Medicine and the study onNuna Kadugu, aSiddha medicine used to treat various skin diseases.[5] He is a recipient ofDr. B. C. Roy Award of theMedical Council of India, the highest Indian award in the medical category.[2] The Government of India awarded him the fourth highest civilian honour of thePadma Shri, in 2009, for his contributions to Medicine.[6]
