Testifenon, also known astestiphenon, testiphenone, chlorphenacyl dihydrotestosterone ester, ordihydrotestosterone 17β-(4-(bis(2-chloroethyl)amino)phenyl)acetate, is asyntheticanabolic–androgenic steroid (AAS) and acytostaticantineoplastic agent (i.e.,chemotherapeutic) that was never marketed.[1][2][3] It is anandrogen ester – specifically, achlorphenacylnitrogen mustardester ofdihydrotestosterone (DHT) – and acts as aprodrug of these two components in the body.[1][2] The drug was developed inRussia as atissue-selectivecytostaticdrug for the treatment of variouscancers occurring inandrogen receptor-expressingtissues that would have reducedside effects andtoxicity relative to other chemotherapy drugs.[1][2]
