Tessah Andrianjafitrimo (born 11 October 1998) is a French professionaltennis player ofMalagasy descent. She was born inMontpellier, France.
On 20 June 2022, she achieved her bestWTA singles ranking of 139. Andrianjafitrimo has won six singles and two doubles titles on theITF Circuit.
Tessah was born in Montpellier and has two younger siblings. Her father, Teddy Andrianjafitrimo, was born in Madagascar. Teddy was an excellent amateur tennis player. A tennis champion of Madagascar and Africa, he did not become a professional player because he lacked the financial support to do so. He emigrated to France and worked as a club coach and as his daughter's coach.[1]
Andrianjafitrimo started playing tennis when she was five years old. She was the 2014 national girls' champion of France in the 15–16 year-olds category.[1] She had a career-highITF junior combined ranking of world No. 29, attained on 14 September 2015.[2]
Andrianjafitrimo made herITF Women's Circuit debut in September 2013 at the $25k indoor hardcourt tournament held inClermont-Ferrand, France; she only entered that tournament's singles event, losing in the first qualifying round. She played a total of seven ITF Circuit tournaments in 2013 and 2014.[3]
Andrianjafitrimo made her Grand Slam singles debut thanks to awildcard at the2015 French Open qualifying, where she defeatedPatricia Mayr-Achleitner in the first round before losing toOlivia Rogowska.
She also made herWTA Tour singles main-draw debut at theLuxembourg Open thanks to a wildcard, losing her first-round match toTatjana Maria. Three weeks later, Andrianjafitrimo made herWTA 125 singles debut at theOpen de Limoges; she entered the singles main draw as a wildcard and lost her first-round match toCarina Witthöft.
She received a wildcard for thesingles main draw of the2016 French Open (her Grand Slam singles main-draw debut), where she lost 0–6, 0–6 to the unseededWang Qiang. She also played in thegirls' singles main draw of the French Open, losing in the second round toLucrezia Stefanini.
In theFrench Open qualifying, Andrianjafitrimo failed to convert two match points in the third set of her first-round match againstRebecca Marino, who won 6–7, 6–4, 7–5.[4]
Andrianjafitrimo has lived inNogaro since 2010.[3] She is in a relationship with French tennis playerUgo Humbert, and while out with injury she has filled in as his coach in 2020 and 2024.[5]
