Terry P. Pinkard (born 1947) is an Americanphilosopher and Distinguished University Professor Emeritus atGeorgetown University. His research and teaching focus on the German tradition in philosophy from Kant to the present.[1] In addition to his own thought, Pinkard is a "noted Hegel scholar" whose translation of Hegel'sThe Phenomenology of Spirit is "accomplished" and "admirably clear."[2]

Education and career

Pinkard earned his B.A. and M.A. from theUniversity of Texas at Austin and his Ph.D. fromStony Brook University with the dissertation,The Foundations of Transcendental Idealism: Kant, Hegel, Husserl.[3][4] He taught atGeorgetown University from 1975 to 2000, atNorthwestern University from 2000 to 2005, but returned to Georgetown in 2005.[1]
