Terry P. Pinkard (born 1947) is an Americanphilosopher and Distinguished University Professor Emeritus atGeorgetown University . His research and teaching focus on the German tradition in philosophy from Kant to the present.[ 1] In addition to his own thought, Pinkard is a "noted Hegel scholar" whose translation of Hegel'sThe Phenomenology of Spirit is "accomplished" and "admirably clear."[ 2]
Education and career [ edit ] Pinkard earned his B.A. and M.A. from theUniversity of Texas at Austin and his Ph.D. fromStony Brook University with the dissertation,The Foundations of Transcendental Idealism: Kant, Hegel, Husserl .[ 3] [ 4] He taught atGeorgetown University from 1975 to 2000, atNorthwestern University from 2000 to 2005, but returned to Georgetown in 2005.[ 1]
