Terry Beucher (born February 19, 1937) is an American formerathlete. He competed in themen's javelin throw at the1960 Summer Olympics.[1]
Beucher attendedShawnee Mission North High School inOverland Park, Kansas, where he played football, basketball, and threw the javelin and graduated in 1955. He received a scholarship to theKansas Jayhawks track and field team, where he was overshadowed by teammateBill Alley. He was nonetheless anAll-American, finishing 3rd in the javelin at the1960 NCAA track and field championships.[2][3]
Beucher qualified for the1960 Summer Olympics by finishing 3rd at the1960 United States Olympic trials. He finished 13th in the first-round 'B' qualifying group.[4]
Beucher majored inpetroleum engineering. He and his father Charles Beucher wereairline pilots. He became a lieutenant in theAir Force Reserve Officer Training Corps after college graduation.[3]
