Terme (formerly spelledTermeh;Ancient Greek: Thèrmae, Θέρμαι) is a municipality anddistrict ofSamsun Province,Turkey.[2] Its area is 548 km2,[3] and its population is 71,092 (2022).[1] Terme is located onTerme River, about 5 km from its mouth, on the eastern end of theÇarşamba Plain.

Terme or its environs are the site of the ancient city ofThemiscyra, Θεμίσκυρα.[4]

Terme District is the site of an annual festival celebrating theAmazons, an ancient nation of all-female warriors who, according to Greek myth, were believed to have lived in theSamsun region.[5]
