In 1999, she wonbronze medals at theWorld Indoor Championships and thePan American Games, and finished ninth at theWorld Championships. She attendedSouthern Methodist University (SMU) inDallas, Texas.
Her personal best throw is 19.21 metres (63.0 ft), achieved in April 2001 inDes Moines, Iowa.
In 2019, she was inducted into theSMU Mustangs Hall of Fame.[1]
Steer-Cantwell is married to shot putterChristian Cantwell. She hails fromCrete, Nebraska and currently resides inColumbia, Missouri.[2]
On May 27, 2008, she gave birth to her first son, Jackson Daniel Cantwell, 11-pounds 2-ounces.
