Teresa Meade

Teresa A. Meade (born 1948) is an American historian. A specialist inLatin American history, she was Professor of History and Culture atUnion College inSchenectady, New York.

Life

Teresa Ann Meade was born inIowa in 1948.[1] She graduated with a B.A. in history from theUniversity of Wisconsin-Madison in 1972. She gained her PhD fromRutgers University in 1984,[2] with a thesis oncommunity protest inRio de Janeiro between 1890 and 1917.[3]

Meade taught at Union College for many years. In 2000-2001 she was aFulbright Lecturer inTokyo.[4] She became Professor of History and Culture, remaining at Union College until her retirement in 2020.[when?]

She is a member of theRadical History Review editorial collective,[5] and has been president of the board of trustees of theJournal of Women's History.[6]
