Short-lived soviet republics

I am not very sure which policy is used to list a republic in the "short-lived" list... I've added theGalician SSR because I knew of it (it had army, government and all the attributes of a state, but lasted just a few months).
I am pretty sure there must be other cases of Soviet Republics that lasted a few months. Perhaps we should set a minimum duration of the republic for it to be even listed?--Gatonegro20:20, 27 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]
- Well, if it existed, it existed. Information is still information. Since thereis a "Short-Lived" section, I'd go ahead and list it there, offering the months of its duration as its date, along with the year.

The name of the template is "Republics of the Soviet Union", yet all of these other republics (Bavarian SR, Slovak SR) are included. - I was about to ask about theChinese Soviet Republic. Even though the CSR (and Mao's early revolutionary army) was funded by the USSR, it doesn't seem to have been an offical part of the Soviet Union. Seems like someone should take a hard look at the countries that make up this template and try to determine exactly what information the template is designed to convey. After all, if the Chinese Soviet Republic (or the Bavarian Soviet Republic or…) was never part of the Soviet Union, it doesn't belong in this template, yeah? --Micahbrwn (talk)08:58, 29 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

- I don;t think thedisplay names need to be spelled out in full each time, but thewikilinks should be. This is all under control of the flag template system, which I am currently updating to reflect the name changes. Post-1940 republics

- TarzanASG has reverted the edit[1] with the comment:"here we don't classify equal republics by the 1920s, 1930s and 1940s". There was one major expansion of the Soviet Union, in 1940. We already differentiate between short-lived states, so it make sense to also indicated that expansion in 1940. --Nug (talk)20:39, 18 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]
