While it's clear that this timeline is mostly about the two parent companies, im wondering if it would be enhanced by including some of the major acquisitions by the two in between the various spinoffs and mergers. I think it might provide some context for how a spinoff of a former minor division became large enough to buy its former parent. That acquisition of Paramount Pictures by Viacom especially is significant. Also, it would probably make sense to mention when National Amusements gained control of ViacomCBS.oknazevad (talk)12:31, 29 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, when I created this back in June I was only concentrating on the two parent companies just to get it started. It is fascinating how ViacomCBS has evolved. As you can see in the page history for the past month, IP users have boldly added the other acquisitions.Zzyzx11 (talk)05:09, 26 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]
The timeline has been completed (up to the current date) with any mergers and acquisitions relevant to the formation of the company. However, I removed information about subsidiaries such as Nickelodeon because they have no impact on the evolution of the company and the timeline will be way too long if we include stuff like that.Mclay1 (talk)03:18, 15 August 2025 (UTC)[reply]
This template is insanely long. On mobile, it takes up multiple screens, meaning you have to scroll and scroll before you get to the actual contents of the page. I'm not even sure that it's that useful, either. If someone wanted to read about the history of Paramount, they'd go to the corresponding pages. Why does this timeline have to be included on every page related to the company — or on any pages at all, really? The template is either redundant, as the article would already have the corresponding information, or it's irrelevant.Loytra (talk)06:49, 21 August 2025 (UTC)[reply]
It doesn't seem very hard to scroll past it to me. It provides a handy summary of key events when it's placed in a history section, like an infobox does for the top of an article.Mclay1 (talk)05:16, 23 September 2025 (UTC)[reply]
