Is David a prophet?

[edit]

How come David among the list of prophets? As far as I know, Catholic church does not consider David as a prophet.--PrinceMathew (talk)18:35, 13 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Good catch! He's moved to PatriarchOct13 (talk)05:13, 30 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Principles for adding saints to this?

[edit]

There are a lot of saints. What rule dictates who gets on this list? I have in mind that there are many more Fathers that could be added. I also think "Confessor" as it is used in this list is fairly arbitrary.Nighm (talk)18:05, 23 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]

I'm using the Litany of the Saints as well as Catholic lists of Fathers, Confessors, etc., in so far as they have Wikipedia pages. For example, there's a directory on Confessors of the Faith that I use for adding Confessors, as well as Saints titled "the Confessor".Oct13 (talk)05:17, 30 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Not canonized: Blessed Martyrs of Drina?

[edit]

Greetings, The articleBlessed Martyrs of Drina indicates:

  • beatified_date=24 September 2011
  • beatified_place=Sarajevo, Bosnia and Herzegovina
  • beatified_by=CardinalAngelo Amato

A check of articleList of canonizations, articleBlessed Martyrs of Drina is missing. Question: should the Martyrs be removed here; or are they canonized (and should be added to the List)? Regards,JoeHebda • (talk)18:43, 8 June 2016 (UTC)[reply]

I checked and cannot find any RSs claiming they have been canonized; it appears they have only been beatified so far. And recently, too, so that's not too surprising.Jujutsuan (talk |contribs)21:08, 8 June 2016 (UTC)[reply]

St. Uriel the Archangel and Michaelmas

[edit]

I believe verification may be needed as to the fact that Uriel, the Archangel, may, in fact be included, especially in the Holy Holiday ofMichaelmas.Twillisjr (talk)22:44, 22 September 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Pre-christians are not canonized

[edit]

Only people who lived during and after the Revelation of Christ can qualify as canonized saints by the Catholic Church; nobody calls Moses "St. Moses" even though he is an important character on the Bible and often refered as just. Therefore, the title "Catholic Saints" wouldn't be adequate, either that or maybe the list itself should change, excluding most Patriarchs and Prophets.

(I couldn't find out whether Archangels could fit in the category of 'saints', but since they do receive the title and receive similar worship, I guess it's legitimate to keep them in)— Precedingunsigned comment added by189.122.225.186 (talk)14:03, 11 December 2016 (UTC)[reply]

"Great Fathers" etc.

[edit]

These could be subcategorised in accordance with as seen inChurch Fathers.PPEMES (talk)17:44, 12 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Some are missing

[edit]

In the section of holy missionaries we must also add toPeter of Saint Joseph de Betancur andJosé de Anchieta. In the servants of God section:Mary of Jesus de León y Delgado andJohn of Jesus Hernández y Delgado.

I wanted to do it myself, but the page is blocked. Thanks.--87.223.76.21 (talk)10:33, 20 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Remove StDalua from the list of Prophets because this Irish saint is not recognised as a prophet by the Catholic Church and all other figures in the Prophets list lived before Christ.1.126.106.131 (talk)15:29, 4 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]
