How are "Major" airports picked?

[edit]

Why is Palma de Mallorca with 6m annual passengers a "Major" airport, but not Valencia with 8m, or Tenerife South with 11m?Marcos [Tupungato] (talk) 09:03, 26 August 2022 (UTC)See the 2019 statistics - ie last full year of data before Covid. It shows Palma had 29 million passengers, while Valencia had 8 million. One should expect the data for 2022 post Covid, to be much closer to 2019. Data for 2020 and 2021 during Covid should be treated as an exception.https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_the_busiest_airports_in_SpainPmbma (talk)09:07, 27 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]
