Usage

Use this rcat template inanynamespace.
Please do not alter the printworthy settings of this rcat without first notifying theVersion 1.0 Editorial Team, who are responsible for any and all materials, including redirects, that go into a printed version ofWikipedia.
 • Add this rcat to a redirect in the following manner:
#REDIRECT(target page name)R to ligature
andwhen the redirect is in article mainspace, printworthiness should also be tagged:
#REDIRECT(target page name)R to ligatureR unprintworthy
TemplateRcat shell is an alias for theRedirect category shell template, which may be used to add as many appropriate rcats as needed, usually from one to seven, along with their parameters, to a redirect. For more information see the documentation on its template page. This rcat may also tag a redirect individually:
#REDIRECT(target page name)R to ligature
This is in accord with instructions found atWikipedia:REDCAT.
 • Use this rcat on any redirect to a page title thathas one or moreligatures – (Æ or æ;Œ or œ;IJ or ij, orß) – from essentially the same page name without any ligatures.
 • This rcat templatemust not be used to tag redirects to a title with differences that are 1:diacritics (like◌̈ and◌́ – useR to diacritic instead), or 2: othernon-ASCII characters thatdo not include ligatures (useR from ASCII-only instead).
 • These redirects sometimes need to be sorted by surname or when a title begins with "A..." or "The...". Sort such redirects by using theDEFAULTSORTmagic word in the following manner:
#REDIRECT(target page name)R to ligatureR unprintworthy
Place it on thefirst new line (do not skip a line) after the Rcat shell. Skipping a line will introduce unnecessary whitespace below the Rcat shell after the edit is saved.
 • By default, this template tags redirects as unprintworthy. To tag and categorize a redirect as printworthy, use the bar key (¦ ) on your keyboard to type the addition¦printworthy in the following manner:

Note: The bar key (¦ ) on the keyboard renders as a pipe (| ) on the screen.
That will subdue the default unprintworthy category and populateCategory:Printworthy redirectsinstead.
