Theodore Lawrence Strickland (September 17, 1932 – March 14, 2012)[1][2] was an American politician who served as the 39thLieutenant Governor of Colorado from 1973 to 1975 under GovernorJohn D. Vanderhoof. Strickland served in both houses of theColorado General Assembly and was President of the Colorado Senate.[3]

In 1978 and 1986, Strickland was the unsuccessfulRepublican nominee forgovernor of Colorado. He lost in 1978 toDemocratic incumbentRichard D. Lamm and in 1986 to Lamm's incoming successor,Roy R. Romer.
