Edward Goodier (15 October 1902 – 4 November 1967) was an English professionalfootballer andfootball manager. Born inFarnworth,Lancashire, he played as awing half forHuddersfield Town,Lancaster Town,Oldham Athletic,Queens Park Rangers,Watford,Crewe Alexandra andRochdale.[2] He was appointedplayer-manager at Rochdale in 1938, and continued in that capacity during theSecond World War[1] until appointed team manager ofBirmingham in August 1943. His contract included provision for a two-year appointment after the war,[3] but after two months in post, he requested and obtained his release for domestic reasons,[4] after which he rejoined Rochdale as secretary-manager.[5] He went on to manageWigan Athletic and Oldham Athletic.[6] He died in his native Farnworth at the age of 65.[1]
