Tatberht was an eighth centuryAnglo-Saxon saint ,abbot [ 1] Bede .[ 2]
He is known to history through the writing ofBede , theSecgan Hagiography ,Stephen of Ripon ,Hugh Candidus andByrhtferth .
The western façade ofRipon Cathedral Tatberht was appointed the secondAbbot ofRipon , in accord with the terms of thewill [ 1] Wilfrid ,[ 3] Roman position at theSynod of Whitby .
A relative of his predecessor Wilfred,[ 4] [ 5] Saint Acca the patron of Bede.[ 6] Acca commissionedStephen of Ripon [ 7] life of Wilfrid .[ 8] [ 9] [ 10] [ 1]
According toHugh Candidus andByrhtferth he is buried atRipon ,[ 11] Wilfrid , ’Albert’,Botwine andSicgred and ’Wildegel’, while there is evidence he was re-interred inPeterborough Abbey .[ 12]
