TheTatar Autonomous Soviet Socialist Republic,[a] abbreviated asTatar ASSR[b] orTASSR,[c] was anautonomous republic of theRussian SFSR. The resolution for its creation was signed on 27 May 1920 and the republic was proclaimed on 25 June 1920.[1][2]Kazan served as its capital.
The territory of the TASSR was a part ofKazan,Simbirsk, andUfa Governorates (orgubernias) of theImperial Russia before theOctober Revolution of 1917.
