Tarsus is animpact crater in theOxia Palus quadrangle ofMars. It is 18.55 kilometres (11.53 mi) in diameter and was named by theIAU in 1976 after the city ofTarsus,Turkey.[1]
Tarsus is an example of a crater with layeredejecta, where upper lobes of ejecta, each with distinct ramparts at their margin, overlie older lobes.[2]
Tarsus is located inChryse Planitia, north of the craterTaxco and east ofNaar.
