Tarbela (Punjabi:تربیلا) orTorbela (Pashto:توربېلا‎) is one of the 44union councils, administrative subdivision, ofHaripur District in theKhyber Pakhtunkhwa province ofPakistan. The name comes from the wordstor (Pashto for "black") andbela (Punjabi/Hindko for "forest").

Khalabat township is divided into four sectors: Sectors 1 and 2 are called Tarbela union; sectors 3 and 4 are called Khalabat union council.

NearbyTarbela Dam got its name from this Tarbela.

Festival

On 1stBaisakh (April 11), theHindu residents in the vicinity and of theHazara plain bathed in theIndus River.[1] The assembly is religious and lasts for two days.[1]
