Tanvi Shah is an Indian playback singer and songwriter.[1] She performs in languages includingTamil,Hindi andTelugu.[2] Her professional debut was "Yakkai Thiri" for the filmAayutha Ezhuthu (2004).[2]

Career

Shah has collaborated frequently with composerA. R. Rahman, contributing vocals to films such asSillunu Oru Kadhal,Slumdog Millionaire, andDelhi-6.[citation needed] She provided the Spanish lyrics for the song "Jai Ho".[3] Following the international success of "Jai Ho", she collaborated with international artists includingSnoop Dogg on "Snoop Dogg Millionaire" and music producerChase & Status.[1]

In 2010, she shared theGrammy Award for Best Song Written for Visual Media with Rahman andGulzar at the52nd Grammy Awards for her work on "Jai Ho".[4]

Shah's live performances include theYuvan - Live in Concert in Chennai (2011) and Malaysia (2012).[citation needed] In 2013, she performed at theCoke Studio concert atIIM Bangalore withAmit Trivedi.[5] In November 2012, she was a speaker at theTEDxSF conference on Global Health.[6]

Philanthropy

Shah is a participant in theRotary International "End Polio" campaign alongside figures such asAmitabh Bachchan andAnil Kapoor.[citation needed] She contributed the song "Zindagi" to theEnd Polio campaign album, which featured international artists includingItzhak Perlman andZiggy Marley. She also supports the Cancer Institute in Chennai.[7]
