Tanjong Malim, orTanjung Malim, is a town inMuallim District, Perak, Malaysia. It is approximately 70 km (43 mi) north ofKuala Lumpur and 120 km south ofIpoh via theNorth–South Expressway. It lies on thePerak-Selangor state border, withSungai Bernam serving as the natural divider.
"Tanjong Malim" usually refers to the territory under administration of Tanjong Malim District Council orMajlis Daerah Tanjong Malim (MDTM), which includes the smaller towns adjacent to the town such asProton City,Behrang,Behrang 2020,Sungkai andSlim River. "Tanjong Malim" is also referred to theOld Town andNew Town divided by theKTM Komuter rail at its heart. Tanjong Malim is home to the main campus of theSultan Idris Education University (UPSI).
