The Google Maps coordinates for Wuxi are incorrect. That location is near Fuzhou in Fujian Province. Wuxi is nowhere near there. Someone please correct this.

Anyone knows how to get rid of the dotted line boxes in the history part please do it. I have not idea where to change that setting.

"The center of the city is filled with modern high rise buildings which may destroy the traditional atmosphere for one thousand years and the market is being redeveloped in a postmodern style."

lol, this is very opinionated. It also seems to predict the future, guessing that the traditional atmosphere will be destroyed for only a certain amount of time.—Precedingunsigned comment added by84.65.47.156 (talk)15:41, 22 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Where's the Beef?

[edit]

This article does not deliver encyclopedic English; although the attempt was good, there is still too much subtle Chinglish in evidence. Further, it reads a bit like some semi-propagandist/travel booklet piece. This is particularly bad in view that there are no proper references or citations to be found -- nothing is backed up! IMO, this entry needs considerable revision.—Precedingunsigned comment added by58.219.6.120 (talk)15:55, 28 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

The red dot locating Wuxi on the map is erroneously in Fujian.kwami (talk)02:26, 4 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

how strange that in this article there is no mention of the fact that the fastest supercomputer of the world is in this city....

seehttp://www.nsccwx.cn/wxcyw/ "National supercomputing centre in Wuxi"

please add to paragraph 6 / 6.1 - MIT tech review mag says Wuxi is supercomputer center with worlds largest fastest supercomputer 'sunway taihulight' - 100 quadrillion calcs/sec ref :https://www.technologyreview.com/s/601739/the-new-fastest-supercomputer-is-chinese-through-and-through/?goal=0_997ed6f472-74bcdf298a-153833233&mc_cid=74bcdf298a&mc_eid=df0062357e lil huangdi 'dragonlight' ; ) !24.44.215.132 (talk)02:57, 27 June 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Etymology

[edit]

Wuxi literally means "the capital of Wu (state)."

What? 吴 and 无 are totally different characters. Is this a theory that I was not previously aware of, a linguistic distortion (e.g. originally containing 吴 in the name, but shifted over time?), or a complete fabrication?F1anders (talk)02:33, 26 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Sister cities: "Beiserkellen, Denmark"

[edit]

As far as I could tell, no places or government entities in Denmark exist with the name Beiserkellen. After some digging through the Chinese-language origins of this claim, I came to believe that "Beiserkellen" is a poorly made effort by someone to transliterate the Chinese name found in the original material "拜瑟克伦" into Danish. The real name in Danish seems to be "Bycirklen", which is also not an actual city/geographic area and appears to be an inter-regional government consortium in Denmark according to the Chinese sources. The name Bycirklen itself means something like "the city circle" in Danish. I also couldn't really find any mentions of this entity outside Chinese-language sources or the context of China–Denmark relations, but the name does appear on official Chinese government communications and Danish local government websites/documents so there is at least some legitimacy. Still I am puzzled by this mysterious entity. I will be changing the usage in the article to the (I believe) correct term, but I think there needs to be more sources/verification on this odd situation.TurquoiseGoose (talk)02:45, 17 July 2025 (UTC)[reply]
