According to our articles on the matter, the convention in Belgium for surnames that include aTussenvoegsel is that the prefix is always capitalised, by which principle this article should be atWout Van Aert and all occurences of the surname should be Van Aert, which is not currently the case. Even if the name were Dutch, the usual practice would be to capitalise the prefix when the forename is not given, which is not happening here. No, Istrongly oppose a move as what you've written is completely wrong. Names in Belgium wich include a prefix (like "de" or "van") arenot uniformly written with a capital letter. It depends from family to family how it is written and the official form is the one as it is written in the official birth register managed by the state. With regard to WVA: the "van" in his name is in his family's case not written with a capital V. Thus it would only be capitalized when it's the first word of a sentence as in "Van Aert won one cycling monument: Milan-San Remo." as opposed to:"Wout van Aert won one cycling monument: Milan-San Remo.--fdewaele, 2 February 2023, 19:36.
