Tarragona is well in the Csa Mediterranean climate, not in one "intermediate" between semi-arid and mediterranean. The semi-arid climate begins 300 Km south of Tarragona (Alicante). --Left unsigned--
Csa is broadly correct, stop with those pseudo precious details. You have messed up really bad also on the Barcelona page. If we use that kind of classification and «subclassification» for Europe, we would end up crazy, let alone for the entire world.Regarding precipitation, Tarragona has 2 distinct dry months in the summer (June, July),nothing less, nothing more, so Csa is absolutely correct. It maybe that August gets more rain than some winter months, but that doesn´t change anything in the classification system. And it actually rains more on the autumn, like it happens also in so many other Mediterranean regions.

It strikes me as unusual that the history of Tarragona should lurch from about 27BC to the present day without a moment's hesitation. Not being Catalan myself I wouldn't care to venture into the minefield, but it would seem appropriate to mention the sacking by the Franks at the end of the 3rd Century AD; the lying in ruins, unoccupied, for a number of centuries; the rise of Tarragona's fortunes after 1714 when the British failed to help rescue the city from the Sapnish and French then to overtake Reus as the prime City in the local community; attempts by Napoleon's men to blow the place up in front of the advancing British and Spanish armies at the beginning of the 19th century; Bombing raids on Tarragona by Italian fascist aircraft during the Civil War and so on.

This article needs urgently an improvement. Surprisingly, Tarragona seems not to have demographics trends, no economic live, no industry, no transport (Port of Tarragona?, oops, it may be a fake, no schools, no university. Some words like "Catalonian" (the correct being Catalan) or info like considering ancient or roman remains the wall gates are just wrong because i.e the Portal del Roser and the Portal de Sant Antoni are medieval and 18th century made respectively. I also changed some names of places like squares or streets that were written in spanish due that the origininal, official and used names are in catalan. i.e. Plaza del Forum is a translation of the catalan "Plaça del Fòrum" slightly differently written but having different pronunciation. I also noted there's a lot of stuff of the city to be listed in this wiki that can be translated from the catalan wikipedia so I'm probably going to add it in a near future.— Precedingunsigned comment added by62.83.163.180 (talk)12:08, 7 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]
For consistency, all climatic data should be provided by AEMET, the official national meteorological agency, otherwise we get ridiculous climatic data such as Barcelona appearing as warmer than Valencia which is 400 km further south and is significantly warmer than Barcelona.Gaditano23 (talk)10:57, 5 July 2017 (UTC)[reply]
In the light of recent edit warring I note that previously on this article the climatic data was AEMET until it was changed for that of regional agency without consensus on talk page. I am reverting to original version, any proposals for adding other sources than the official national meteorological agency as used for all Spanish cities on Wikipedia should be consensuated here.Gaditano23 (talk)04:47, 10 July 2017 (UTC)[reply]
In the History/Origins paragraph, I have just deleted the following sentences, alleging that Tarragona has no real port today: "This more accurately reflects its present condition; despite a mole being constructed in the 15th century with the materials of the ancient amphitheatre, and another subsequently by an Irishman named John Smith Sinnot, it affords little shipping protection." Perhaps this sentence was meant to be in the past tense, but as it is, it's wrong. - As a reference for today's importance of the port, I have added a RS in the section on modern Tarragona.Munfarid1 (talk)14:38, 13 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
