gothenburg

[edit]

why is it written with the English name when the rest are in Swedish it should be GöteborgRetroin8bit (talk)07:32, 18 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Because this is English Wikipedia and its English name is Gothenburg.Jeppiz (talk)12:04, 18 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]
the rest are in swedish for example örebroRetroin8bit (talk)10:17, 19 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]
The difference is that Gothenburgh is anexonym, a well-known name in English for Gothenburg. Other Swedish cities don't have an English name. But I believe that the Swedish name should be added at the first mention of any English exonym, like for instance Gothenburgh (Swedish:Göteborg) (using the proper template, of course).Sjö (talk)10:44, 19 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]
I added (Swedish:Göteborg) and I changed one instance of Göteborg into Gothenburgh.Lova Falk (talk)05:45, 27 May 2025 (UTC)[reply]
The ending 'h' should be omitted.84.251.164.143 (talk)06:30, 27 May 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Of course!Lova Falk (talk)09:50, 27 May 2025 (UTC)[reply]

There is a link that is not working (site is down for 5 years now) to Ferrylines.com:

" Kowalski, Oliver. "Ferry to Denmark, Norway, Sweden, Finland, Poland, Baltic, Russia, Germany". ferrylines.com. Archived from the original on 16 August 2016. Retrieved 28 August 2016. "

While there is a source now that has up-to-date ferry lines here that could be helpful:https://ferryroutes.com/baltic-sea/84.106.167.165 (talk)10:07, 4 June 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Done Thank you for taking the time to make the request to update this link, IP.Sirdog(talk)23:57, 5 June 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Government and politics > elections > first sentence:the "Social Democrats"

There should probably be a wikilink attached, like with the other parties, to an English Wikipedia page for the party which is located athttps://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Swedish_Social_Democratic_Party

Thank you.2001:9B1:26F5:BB00:7993:FE0D:6FDA:5358 (talk)03:51, 20 August 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Law Enforcement mentioned in the Military section

[edit]

Law enforcement has a paragraph right under the Military header which seems misplaced. I checked the wiki page for a few other countries (Germany, France, Denmark, the UK, Finland), and none of them put law enforcement or police under the military section, in fact they don't mention law enforcement or police at all in the article. If nobody objects, I will therefore remove that first paragraph of the Military section.Otrebus (talk)11:39, 23 January 2026 (UTC)[reply]

English language Media

[edit]

The section should be neutral there are 3 English language websites with Swedish newshttps://englishnews.se,https://swedenherald.com/ and the one mentioned. They should all be given equal prominence on the page— Precedingunsigned comment added by~2026-10201-25 (talk)21:38, 14 February 2026 (UTC)[reply]
