I think there is a case for disambiguation here, between 'Software Distribution' as a noun such as the examples given in the article, and as a verb meaning the process of distributing software, which has many aspects. I've never done a disambiguation split before, I'll go off and ask the CS project maintainers how/if to proceed. (The original comments stand, this page is a mess, even when only thinking about the noun meaning.) –Dan Shearer (talk)14:21, 20 May 2013 (UTC)[reply]
11 years later and this page is still a mess. I propose that this page be split into 2 articles, 1 about the process of distributing software and the other about software distros. My proposal is for the process to remain on this page, and a new page be created calledSoftware distro. This Video Has 73M Views (talk)16:01, 27 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]
The pageDistro points to this article, but the article, in first paragraph, claims "This is not to be confused with adistribution, ordistro, which is ...". This is contradictory and needs to be resolved.Blue down quark (talk)
Article adds little value. Several different uses of the terms "software distribution" are thrown together. Main thrust of article different than usage of articles linking to it.— Precedingunsigned comment added by130.58.91.190 (talk)19:56, 13 July 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Oppose - The issue with different uses of the term "software distribution" has been resolved with a split. The article is currently a little short, however I believe the best solution to that is expansion, and I think the concept of distributing software is big enough to warrant a Wikipedia article. This Video Has 73M Views (talk)21:19, 5 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]
